Set after Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me and before Unravel Me, the spellbinding sequel, Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45.
In Shatter Me, Juliette escaped from The Reestabilishment by seducing Warner – and then putting a bullet in his shoulder. But as she’ll learn in Destroy Me, Warner is not that easy to get rid of…
Back at the base and recovering from his near-fatal wound, Warner must do everything in his power to keep his soldiers in check and suppress any mention of a rebellion in the sector. Still as obsessed with Juliette as ever, his firts priority is to find her, bring her back, and dispose of Adam and Kenji, the two traitors who helped her escape. But when Warner’s father, the Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment, arives to correct his son’s mistake, it’s clear that he has much different plans to Juliette. Plans Warner simply cannot allow.
„I’m building walls in my mind again. White walls. Blocks of concrete. Empty rooms and open space.”
– from Destroy Me
After I finished out reading Shatter Me, I was about 51% Team Adam and 49% Team Warner. It was something about this character I didn’t understand and some actions I didn’t like. But now… I can say I’m all the way Team Warner. How can it be possible?
Reading this novella was like descovering all about Warner’s personality. Why is he acting like that, what he loves and what he hates.
Warner’s obsession with Juliette turns out much depper with every chapter. The things he finds out by reading Juliette notebook makes him want to find and protect her even more. And only the thought that his father can find her firts it’s about to turn him crazy.
Basically, whatever you are a Warner fan or not, you have to this. You’ll see a different side of him and you’ll understand why is he acting like that. Plus, if you’re a Shatter Me fan, like I am, you’re probably dying for Unravel Me and this will help to quench your thirst. I recommend you to get it, read it and fall in love with Warner.
